Kickstarter Sketches
Shaenon: It’s that time again: I’m mailing out books ordered through the latest Skin Horse Kickstarter campaign and doing a bazillion bonus character sketches.
Channing: Bonus points to the backer who requested Kid Icarus, speaking as someone familiar with the original from arcades. Back when there were arcades.
Damn! Didn’t get through. Oh well, sorry for the late comment, was watching a movie.
Strictly speaking, there -are- still plenty of arcades, just not -video- arcades.
Well, Nick in the VR Whimsey World did wear a Kid Icarus shirt. I know I didn’t remember it from the arcades—must’ve been after my time.
There are still arcades. Well, there’s Dave and Buster’s, which does so many things mediocre-ly instead of one thing well.
Based on the one time I ate there, I think they’d have to strive to be mediocre.
Dear Ms. Garrity (I apologize if I addressed you inappropriately, I’m not sure how formal the comment section is supposed to be), I am new to reading skin horse, and I wanted to ask you how you design outfits for Tip to wear that look good on him. Fashion drawing is sort of related to my hobbies, and I really like how you draw Tip in his various outfits that show off his body without making him seem a different shape than his body is. Do you have references or other things that you use for inspiration that you would be willing to share? Thank you!
Aw, really? Thanks! I don’t know much about clothes, so I look at street fashion online. https://omgthatdress.tumblr.com is invaluable for historical clothes.
