I’d recommend re-reading the “Jonah dies. A lot.” chapter. Asig got aboard the good ship “Cartoonish Supervillainy” and sailed beyond the Moral Event Horizon a while ago. That being said, I will admit Dr. Lee’s own moral compass (like Dave’s in Narbonic) points to the east pole fairly often, but she’d hardly fit in there if it didn’t.
Given that they’re responsible for Unity existing in the first place, and that the events that brought her to Skin Horse happened before the comic began, I’d say that A-Sig was probably pretty close to the edge even when they started.
Ah, but V. cholerae tactilis can spread by touch, and V. cholerae animorbo doesn’t even need that. You make all kinds of new friends working at AnaSigma, and then infect people with them!
The previous two comments by me were made from within the ComicRocket in-browser envelope, which I’ve been using since I caught up to the present day (it’s much easier to click the strip than a small arrow key when archive binging, but CR makes it so easy to keep track of updates).
If this is a response to “The response field did the thing again”, then it’s likely the fault of sending the message through the enveloped page. Not definite, but likely. If this is a top-level comment, sorry for filling up today’s comments section.
Even I have, a time or two, had a comment not attached as a reply where it was supposed to be, and I don’t even know what ComicRocket is. So while that browser may indeed be a problem, it’s certainly not the only issue that does that with replies.
I always figured it was someone didn’t properly click the reply link (thus linking their reply to that comment) before typing into the comment box. But I dunno… I’m not there watching people over their shoulders as they post, so it could be an error in the page or whatever other method that’s being used to post.
I used to think that too, until the first time it happened to me. I know there’s issues with the page, because sometimes instead of a comment box, I’ll get a black box with a big X (or something like it).
They made a movie about her experience, “Loving a strain of cholera.”
Incidentally, the outfit Tip is slowly rebuilding should have a high magic level when it’s done, based on the number of quests required to get it. All that’s left to gain the matched set bonus and restore his DPS are the Wilkonian Bracers of Fable. But he already acquired a legendary artifact in a previous episode so that plot point isn’t likely to repeat.
And it looks like Dr. Lee isn’t the only nascent mad in the company. Actually, that probably explains the sheer number of deathtraps they have in their normal offices. And vice versa.
It’s OK, Virginia… a hug should be fairly safe as long as you don’t get carried away. You have to actually ingest v. cholerae to get sick.
Are you sure the project wasn’t to make the critter *more* communicable?
Now, now, Janie. There’ll be others.
True, but there’s always something special about your first virulent infection.
Bruce A Munro: There is. But Virginia doesn’t feel quite the same way about Unity that she does about Nick.
That was motherhood.
Robert Nowall: I was thinking more of the “I think I kinda am a virus” angle there.
And I doubt very much whether Unity was her first project. Or even her first project for A-Sig.
“Come to think of it, do I have _any_ coworkers who aren’t evil by most reasonable definitions?”
Define Reasonable

And when I say a while ago, I mean a while. http://skin-horse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/2008-10-20-before-honest-to.jpg

Yeah, this is A-Sig here. The term “fairly safe” is relative. Just showing up for work is taking a risk.
That was at awgiedawgie. The response field did the thing again.
In the interest of diagnostics:

*snort*
I love that the “what exactly is extirpation” question has become an ACTUAL PLOT POINT.
From Merriam-Webster’s website:
“Extirpate” – transitive verb
1. a: to destroy completely : WIPE OUT
b: to pull up by the root
2. to cut out by surgery
GORRAM IT GINNY TAKE NICK AND FLEE
Isn’t there a friendlier definition in the Urban Dictionary? I’m sure Rule 34 applies.
I shudder to think how Rule 34 applies to the word “extirpate”. It can’t be a good thing.
