In fairness, it’s possible that Ginny sees right through her and is merely using her for her Completely Sane Gloating Monologue To Demonstrate Her Brilliance before she turns the tables on her friend and makes off with Nick leaving her friend to hold the bag and explain things to her bosses. ^_^
Jeff, as if the story in the comic itself weren’t messing with our heads enough, you appear to be messing with us via the URLs as well. I’m beginning to wonder whether your middle initial actually stands for “Cruelty”.
According to the site I read the file name story on, Jeff has been doing the most recent bit, and I quote “(during Jeff’s weeks updating–Attention, attention, anyone who is following this story. You may safely disregard all this week, looks like. Yep, as I anticipated, you can safely remove these words from the transcript. [transcriber’s note: And yet, they remain.] This week, too. Hey, I know! I can write”
I have not added the past two weeks of URLs to my edition of the story. I assume that it’s been Jeff writing the latest bits, since he’s been posting the comics since the 13th.
The line between genius and insanity is a fine line. Better to make people slightly insane than to find actual ‘Sam’s scientists. It’s how cthulhutech manages to keep their mad scientists with the right amount of insanity running.
Well, Virginia did say she needed time to prepare. I suspect a goodly part of that preparation is mental – steeling herself for what she knows will be an unpleasant task.
She quit. So, extirpated? Probably not. She did say “Let them extirpate me,” but then Violet informed her that she had unwittingly completed her task, despite trying to screw it up, and even told her “Job well done.”
Never discuss your existential crises with coworkers – especially coworkers who are also trying to demonstrate their loyalty to the company.
Yeah, I can’t see this ending in anything but tears. Or possibly wolverines.

I can really see this happening. And Ginny would actually giver her a bag to hold, with a tag labeled “gotcha!”.

What? I thought the stories in the URLs were written by Shaenon, not Jeff. Did I miss something?

Those… don’t really look like wolverines.
But then again, Artie is a “Gerbil” who looks nothing like a gerbil…
They might have been wolverines once upon a time. Or at least parts of them used to be from wolverines. I mean, just look at those poor axolotls.
Ginny has a lot of crud on her mind. It could really use a wash.
Someone clearly learned the wrong lesson from the Resident Evil franchise.
The line between genius and insanity is a fine line. Better to make people slightly insane than to find actual ‘Sam’s scientists. It’s how cthulhutech manages to keep their mad scientists with the right amount of insanity running.
Girlfriend would be correct if she was thinking while her speech bubble had to spell it out phonetically.
Gah! Can’t get WordPress to use the Greek symbol! How thoroughly useless is that?
Wolverines are omnivores. The fruit skewers are like why they’re surrounding the cage. That and they probably only get fed once a day.
They’re also plush.
…and she goes back to her cage leaving the situation unresolved.
You two are such teases.
Well, Virginia did say she needed time to prepare. I suspect a goodly part of that preparation is mental – steeling herself for what she knows will be an unpleasant task.
Wouldn’t anything involving Nick be an unpleasant task?
Her laptop is open. Perhaps she’s searching for the right “safe word”?
Actually at this point she might have disassembled Nick and is just feeling bad about it.
Women disassemble their boyfriends/love interests all the time, so why would Nick be exempt?
Speaking of coworkers, where is Phoebe? Has she been extirpated?
Drat. She was.
She quit. So, extirpated? Probably not. She did say “Let them extirpate me,” but then Violet informed her that she had unwittingly completed her task, despite trying to screw it up, and even told her “Job well done.”
