Networking with Robin
Shaenon: Drew this at the annual National Cartoonists Society meeting in May. Based on a true story and real cartoon people!
Channing: Also known as the “Cardboard Box The Toy Came In” paradigm. Children routinely refuse to enjoy or be enriched by the things adults want them to be enriched by, and will instead choose their own enrichment seemingly for maximum adult frustration. Also applicable to cats.
Out of context, “Robin Meets Real Cartoon People” would be a really misleading title for this story.
True, but thanks for the mental image of Daffy trying to impress him by playing my favorite cartoon piano piece, “Enduring Young Charms”…
“Believe me, if all those *endearing* young charms…”
I post much better when I’m awake… Thanks! I can *never* get that last note…
The last time I saw Robin in this comic I thought “wow, that kid ages fast” but now he seems less mature, also I just figured out he’s a boy.
I’m impressed at his final monologue, tho.
Is that…is that Mo Willems?
He’s my favorite, too. I’ve used _There’s a Bird On Your Head_ for a LOT of storytimes over the years, and it’s always a huge hit, and if I met him I would probably be a lot less articulate than Robin was.
Yup, that’s Mo. He’s an awesome dude.
Yeah, not gonna lie, “blurgle argle mooooo” sounds very similar to “elephantsGerald and piggie and hi awesome you GAH!” which is what I probably would say.
So funny, and so true!
Isn’t that just how kids are? …Only behaving themselves when no one else is around to notice.
Ha Ha. So True!. Sorry man. That is what Kids are all about.
Screee!
Do you realize what this means? This means Robin wants to grow up to become…a lobbyist!
ROFL!
This is why I dont want kids. XD
Reminds me of how my niece was interested in meeting Lin-Manuel Miranda, but specifically so she could play Ducktales on his NES.
