Skin Horse 6 Kickstarter Sketches
Shaenon: Busy drawing for the Kickstarter backers who asked for bonus character sketches. Sweetheart and Unity together are a popular request this time around.
Channing: Man, you guys have the best ideas. Also, wow, Virginia’s book takes me back.
Much though I love Princess Nick’s outfits, they are a *pain* to wear. Long strapless dresses with a high waistline don’t really like to stay up when you haven’t got much, um, *structure* to support them.
Yes, I did try it.
I find double-stick tape and velcro to be effective.
In Princess Nick’s case, staples might also be a practical solution.
Or magnets, but they might interfere with the operation of the gyroscopes.
I’ll try the tape next time, but I suspect the weight of the skirt will still be too much.
So who’s brain is Dr. Lee sitting on? They all look alike to me…
As long as you check for a blue glow and eyes, just in case it’s actually a Shoal of Winter Harmony.
Or, whatever the heck those brains were in the “Doctor Who Christmas Special”
Shouldn’t Dr. Lee’s book be “The Great Brain Robbery”?
I was thinking the exact same thing. There needs to be a movie!
I’ll third that.
I worry that there’s about to be a nasty accident, as Virginia doesn’t look very balanced, her book certainly doesn’t, and that isn’t how you drink hot things.
Incidentally, I’m wondering what this chapter is called. It started off as “Playing Pilgrims”, but it now says “Yes, Virginia” on this page, and “playing-pilgrims” on the chapter archive. Is that a limitation of the web site, or are we still awaiting a final decision?
I believe it was changed on thr executive mandate of “argh, why didn’t we think of that title one week earlier.”
I will never get tired of Princess Nick
Oh yeah, definitely getting an attack of the nostalgies re: The Great Brain, I need to reread those…
It was a book by John D. Fitzgerald (according to Wikipedia)—I think I read it when I was a kid, but I can’t remember for sure.
It was the first of a seven-book series. I read all of them multiple times as a kid. Fitzgerald also wrote several books for adults, of which I’ve only read one, _Papa Married a Mormon_ — it’s a memoir of the family history that the Great Brain books are loosely based on.
I loved loved loved Me and My Little Brain. My da (who originally recommended the books to me) adored The Great Brain at the Academy. All of them were fun though!
I didn’t know Fitzgerald had other books! I’ll have to check that out sometime.
I notice that Unity has a scoop of bass clef ice cream. That’s a good flavor – has a very deep taste.
It’s one of those things you somehow don’t expect to work as ice-cream, like liquorice or C# minor.
