Teeth Thumbnails
Shaenon: Thumbnails for “What Big Teeth.” Robin helped with some of these.
Channing: I was heartbroken to leave the random blue scribbles in #2 on the cutting-room floor. My script had called for them from the very beginning, and at one point they were essential to advancing the intended theme. What can I say? The story moved in a different direction, and when that happens, you gotta be ruthless in the edit phase.
The blue scribbles aren’t lost forever, Jeff. You can parse them at length in the Director’s Cut.
The sketches are great and all, but I’m not gonna lie – I kinda felt like the subtext was promising us some smoking hot pan-genitalled tanuki centaur action in the Sunday panels this week.
This is one of those things that is easier to write down than it is to draw, methinks.
Ever consider drawing roughs on notebook paper without pre-printed lines?
If you’re going to transfer them anyway, lines on the sketches aren’t really a big deal. I myself prefer sketching on lined paper- I think the lines help my subconscious with scale and proportions. They certainly come out better than my drawings on printer paper.
The sketches are nice, but I think the extra g in Director Doggggy really makes the strip.
