“Forward…To the Past!” Final Page
Shaenon: Ta-da! The final version of the Skin Horse 6 bonus story page I’ve been sharing, with gorgeous Day-Glo color by Pancha Diaz.
Channing: This is functionally everything I could have ever wanted out of my script! Thanks, you guys! And thanks once more to all Kickstarter backers for helping make it happen.
For some reason, I can’t help but read the woman with the teddy bear’s voice as that of Maud Pie.
Today I saw a trailer for a movie about Trolls. The 1980s fad toy with the shock of brightly colored hair.
Trolls had a resurgence of popularity in the 1980s, but I have troll dolls when I was a little girl in the early 1960s. They were popular in Scandinavia even before I was born.
I “had” troll dolls. Also, Max Headroom! I freakin’ loved Max Headroom. Seeing Mat Frewer on Ophan Black makes me nostalgic.
Max Headroom—created to sell New Coke. Everybody loved Max Headroom—nobody loved New Coke.
Did the original ~75 minute Max Headroom drama ever make it to the US? I know it was rehashed as the pilot to the series, but the Channel 4 original was definitely better. Makes me wonder now if it was ever released on DVD my old VHS copy from air died years ago.
We had troll dolls in the dark times, before the coming of the sun and moon. At least, I think they were dolls. We sacrificed small animals to them to ward off the wrath of the Huldrim.
Pass to the Foreword…
OH! That’s a Teddy Ruckspin she’s holding, isn’t it? I been wondering what was so significant about it. For all I know it could have been a Care Bear. Color helps and I love the background. It all screams 80’s.
Background images from left to right—let’s see… (1) the cover to Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. (2) He-Man from the original animated He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (3) from the proportions, I’m pretty certain it’s a poster for a buddy movie, but I’m drawing a blank on the film (4) “Sonny” Crockett from Miami Vice (5) Sylvester Stallone is Cobra (6) Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma-Max Headroom! (7) Mister T the animated series (8) Cyndi Lauper
Poster #3 is an Ahnuld movie…
I think you’re right. It’s a reasonably good match for one of the Red Heat posters.
Yeah – it’s a little hard to read, but it says “Schwarzenegger”.
What decades are those two based off of / from again? I’m a newb when it comes to specific dates in history.
Imogene is from the fifties, and Debbi used to have an eighties gimmick before she was put on The Cure.
