The Triumphant Return of Volume 1
Shaenon: Skin Horse Volume 1 is officially back in print, thanks to the generous support of everyone who contributed to our last Kickstarter campaign. Also, it turns out I have no compunctions against using my baby to hawk wares. Remember, every time you buy a book, a baby smiles.
Anyway, Volume 1 is available now at the Couscous Store. Next we’ll start work on Volume 5.
Channing: Look at how much Robin loves Skin Horse vol. 1, despite his pre-literate status! Thanks to all Kickstarter patrons who helped make this happy baby moment possible.
Eek, it’s Andrew, but with red hair. Shaenon, you will never create anything cuter than that child—not eve “brain Christmas” Unity (http://skin-horse.com/comic/she-hated-that/).
So, This is the clubfooted baby fighting champion.
d’awwwwww
I’m not sure this comic is really appropriate for someone so young. For instance, I imagine that understanding sequential art requires some grasp on the concept of object permanence
Happy baby is best baby.
That is a very cute baby! When did that baby get to be so large? I had thought that the baby was tiny. You probably have this feeling a lot.
Also, I spy Sophie.
I know! The fact Robin got so big so fast is kind of freaking me out. WHY IS TIME MOVING SO QUICKLY? (It’s possible this feeling is connected to the fact I’m going to be 39 next week — at least if you believe the calendar,)
Seriously, he’s adorable. (I almost said “adorbz”, but we almost-39-year-olds really can’t pull that off.)
I think part of it is we focus our day to day lives locally rather than big picture. Kind of similar to reality blindness to a point.
We adapt to small changes without realizing how rapidly things are moving when observed at a longer timescale.
Before you know it – kids are in school, 17 years married, 12 years current company, and you still haven’t finished those 2 or 3 projects you started right after you bought the house.
He is extremely cute indeed.
I’m distinctly relieved that Matt has identified that as Sophie Giraffe, because I found the skinny alien hand reaching into the first photo from the right to be rather alarming.
Oh, and it’s all true about the book-chewing, though my babies seem to think board books make more satisfying snacks than paper ones. My daughter is a fiend and once ate the entire spine of a book I was reviewing as part of a library focus group before anyone in the group noticed she even had it.
I feel blood-brotherhood with him. We redheads must stick together, you know.
Be careful of Robin trying to consume the books without being able to read – i.e. attempting to ingest them. I still have the copy of Where the Wild Things Are from my childhood, with a page that is 1/3 gone from being chewed on by my younger cousin.
That’s the age when the phrase ‘taste in literature’ has a literal meaning.
So this is how people get used to having books when sitting.
Starting reading early is an excellent way to having a child that reads. Well done!
!!!!!!
You made a good kid.
The bottom-most pic makes me think of the Podlings from The Dark Crystal, which makes me very happy because that was one of my favorite movies when I was younger…
And the little trollamog is just too cute!
Einstein said, If you want your children to be smart, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be smarter, read them more fairy tales.
E-Gads! What be this cursed aboniation of the sciences? A crude minion programmed for the purposes of marketing comix!?
Be wary, no good may be liable to come of this meddling..
Oh my gosh he’s so big!
…and probably way way bigger now but still!
