Okay, today it’s my turn to tell Vincent that I really, really, really love his art. Not only are the characters adorable, but his use of color and perspective perfectly evoke the feeling of the mythic Hawaii. It’s the same way that Young Frankenstein managed to be funny and still feel eerie like the original.
add to that the, umm… whadyacall it… “background ‘dialog.’ To wit, “thoom thoom thud!”
Eat wrench!

Normal!
I see like normal with eyes closed!
Fear not,
I’ve got this under control!
Nera …
Nera is fearing we’re both hosed!
No big …
We’re only risking our souls!
Guiding!
Back through the forest, I’m guiding!
Striding!
But there’s one thing you should know …
Painful …
When with a tree I’m colliding!
To do this ain’t easy!
I’m faceplanting trees, see!
My “normal” is pretty darn low!
Okay, I escaped from Candle Jack! Now-
Looks like Nera is opening her eyes in the last panel for a well aimed glare, presumably with an eye roll in there as well. I guess the dripping sarcasm is worth potential soul swiping should the Nightmarchers get in front of them.
There goes reality interfering with what should be a perfectly good dramatic moment again.
Hopefully the Nightmarchers fall over laughing at this. The upside to making a fool of yourself is that it provides a heck of a distraction.
Wait… if he loses his soul, does he still respawn?
that involves dying. so i’d say yes. unless of course it means he has to wait out eternity as a ghost before coming back… the universe isn’t kind to jonas.
The first time through, he fooled around with the Naha stone until Nera was inveigled into joining the Nightmarchers. When he found out what had happened to her, he died of a broken heart (or committed suicide by axolotl) and relived the past couple of years exactly up until the moment Nera left him, at which point he took off after her — not instantly, but pretty soon, judging from Thursday’s strip.
