“The Secret Garden” by Jenn Manley Lee!
Channing: Exemplary cartoonist Jenn Manley Lee shows us four of our heroines investigating the age-old question of where babies come from, and discovering the eeriest possible answer. Thanks so much, Jenn. This is totally faboo.
That overgrown chicken is in deep trouble
Unity is gonna have the awesomest stork-feather hat ever.
I really hope that isn’t Baba Yaga’s hut.
It’s a stork
I don’t think “nefarious stork project” is really either more or less plausible than “cannibal witch’s garden of tasty babies” :).
Read the description.
Is it just me, or is adding babies a surefire way of making creepy things creepier?
Why is that, anyway? Babies aren’t creepy.
I did before writing anything. You’re taking my comments waaay to seriously :).
So you do know about storks and cabbage leafs, then?
Isn’t it fascinating how such a large chunk of folklore exists for no other reason than to avoid explaining difficult concepts to children?
only in skinhorse
Jenn is my ultimate hero.
And Storks would have been less physically stressful way of obtaining your adorable experimental subject….
I’m having a bit of trouble here. That’s Dr Lee, Unity, Sweetheart, and Tigerlilly Jones?
Yeah. Tigerlily would be more recognizable if she were dressed funkier, but that’s definitely her afro.
They’re one of a kind, they’re Cabbage Patch Kids, you can give them all your love…
(TUNE: “Cat’s In The Cradle”, Harry Chapin)
A team of ladies are on a quest,
‘Cause kickin’ butt’s what they do the best!
You see, our Unity was misinformed,
She wants to know, “How is babby formed?”
And after searching for a while, at last they see …
A secret garden’s where they be!
It’s gonna end so violently!
And the kids in the cabbage are about to sprout,
Stork is on guard, so you better watch out!
Gotta watch your back for a sneak attack,
And maybe take a baby back!
(For Unity, a tasty snack!)
Unity, step awaaaaay from the babies.
Shaenon: I JUST heard about this morning’s quake. I hope everyone and everything is well.
Infrastructure being my biggest concern – you having an infant in the house and all.
Didn’t know you lived there; hope everything is well.
We’re okay. We did feel the earthquake, but no harm done.
Good to hear.
You know, it’s weird. I dreamed about an earthquake last night. Well, something loosely resembling an earthquake, anyway.
Also a flood, a missile stockpile and a ride on a boat-train-hybrid-vehicle-type-thing.
I smell an illegal cloning experiment…
Why does the gate look like the entrance to a grave yard? Shure, there are some freash bodies laying around – and a not so freash one there too…
Awwwwwe-some!
