Moustachio Rampage by Mark Featherston
Shaenon: I love it! Mark Featherston has created this dramatic archival image of Moustachio taking down the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851. Thank you so much!
Channing: I also love it! Seriously, what’s not to love?
I love it!
Don’t tell Mostashio they are thinking of rebuilding it!
Ha-Haa! That’s great!
Do you have a higher-resolution version of this, suitable for wallpaper use?
And now we all know what Annex One will look like after this week’s strips.
So, that’s what happened. I thought the claim of accidental fire was a little too convenient.

Behold this act of malice!
The lovely Crystal Palace
Exposition’s end has come
From this bad Thinkonium!
He has no competition
In matters of ignition!
“What a splendid blaze, old chum!”
Shouts this bad Thinkonium!
This photograph has captured
Moustachio, enraptured
By destruction coming from
Him, the bad Thinkonium!
And now, we ask, will we see
Him hold the whole of D.C.
Under his metallic thumb?
O, this ba-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ad Thin-ko-ni-um!
Not to worry. The Crystal Palace survived Moustachio’s, er, behavior, and was relocated to Sydenham. It lasted there till 1936 when it burned down—Moustachio didn’t have anything to do with *that*, did he?
I stick out my tongue at the Crystal Palace!
I hate to say it but.. that is after the 1936 fire, just up the road from me.
You’re right, paulagee66, I thought it would be fun to make a composite of the Crystal Palace with Moustachio in a photo from the opening of the CP, if one existed, but when I GIS’d it, the 1930’s pic came up and it was to perfect to pass up. ;:)
I would *love* to see a really good front and side view of him, back in his legged days.He doesn’t look as though he’d be hard to build a model of… Some idea of his size would be good; as we only get to see him attached to a desk with no legs. I suspect his legs looked like a proper Victorian gent’s legs, though possibly with a flat “bellbottom” look from the side- for some reason I am thinking about some of the characters in “Yellow Submarine”…
Wonder if there was ever a time where he and Boilerplate the Robot ever mixed it up… Like the Monitor and the Merrimack, it may have been inconclusive…
Tik-Tok had the “bellbottom” look in *Return to Oz*… it still amazes me that there was an actor inside that costume. Which there was. Walking backwards.
