Tip Dressed Up: Ballgown
Shaenon: I have no interest in clothes and generally dress my characters in the same T-shirt-and-jeans combos I wear, so I’m not sure why, for Skin Horse, I was suddenly seized with the desire to draw a fashion-conscious cross-dresser. If nothing else, it’s forced me to be at least marginally creative about clothing. I got some fashion books and copied outfits to get ideas for things Tip could wear. Here he is in full evening dress; I’d love to find a way to work an outfit like this into the strip.
Channing: Like Shaenon, I’m not terribly interested in clothes. Unlike Shaenon, I don’t have a knack for writing them, either. Pretty much every cool thing you see Tip wear in this strip comes from her end of the scripting.
Martha Mintz (muffinthamighty) says: Once again, the fuzzy forearms are priceless.
Rachel (admiralshazbot) says:
God, even Shaenon’s crossdressers make better women than I do. Although, to be fair, cartoon characters’ clothing is made for them and changes shape to fit their bodies, while I have to make do with clearance rack stuff that is not at all amorphous.
kelly snedeker (telluride) says: I am trying to catch up on Narbonic and I love this strip already. Good thing I don’t have a life.
Nick Christensen (incidence) says: Tip in an evening gown is such an awesome mental image that it needs to happen somehow.
M Lowe-Hentges (annechen67) says:
Oh, my – I think I may be able to help, at least with the evening wear.
/me giggles with an unhinged evil undertone.
Meghan Geary (gears567) says:
I like Tip. 😀
And not just because he’s a cross-dresser.
…
Okay, that’s mostly it. But I still like him. 😀
