That is an interesting thought. Since Unity is a sludge of microorganisms with female gender, would inhabiting a male body (regardless of clothing) count as crossdressing or not? Would a male body with masculine clothing be more than or equal to a male body with feminine clothing on a crossdressing scale?
Unity self-identifies as female, so now she’s a female person inside a male body, which makes her a transgendered woman, not a transvestite, by technical definition. However, the important part of gender identity is the “identity” part, so she is what she identifies as. In this case, that’s simply “female”.
At any rate, I’m sure she doesn’t experience (or indeed understand the concept of) dysmorphia, regardless of her body’s gender.
Earlier discussions on Unity’s black goo having a fixed idea of what her head should look like, suggest that perhaps a male body occupied by her would morph into a female in time … but also that the black goo maintains her patchwork appearance, which is weird.
I think Unity’s sexual orientation is pansexual, and her gender identity is “whatever”.
Kind of like me, actually… except I can’t change up my body according to my mood. Upshot is I’m alive, though, so there’s that.
Now the comic has two crossdressers.

It’s what the goop imprinted on, perhaps?
The patchwork is part of her self-image. It’s what she’s used to.

If you are a black goo inhabiting whatever necrotic bits you can stitch together, I guess you don’t have to worry about body dysphoria.
Is Unity’s statement in the fourth panel an aphorism? ” … rum will save me! “
