Some where out there there is a bacon festival happening and we were not made aware of it.

According to Google, there are in fact a vast array of bacon festivals around the world.

The website to the Chicago bacon festival is having bandwidth issues. But I have http://www.blueribbonbaconfestival.com/ Blue ribbon bacon festival in Iowa.

Sorry, Unity. Eating those brains will just make you overdose on dumbth. On the other hand, you would be filtering the water in the gene pool.

‘exasperation’, you mean. ‘Exacerbation’ is what GODOT is doing.

Or should that be “‘exacerbation’ is GODOT’s doing”?
Everything you read. Dyslexics of the wold, this is your opportunity.

“Dyslexics of the world“, rather. Not just the ones living in the woodland on the hill.

having seen some of the random stuff out there on twitter – even when you expand the conversation it is gibberish.

The most coherent twitter-stuff I have seen have actually been webcomic related. Othar (character in Girl Genius) had a feed – running narrative that was an ok storyline (currently inactive).

Simliarly Questionable Content has twitter feeds for several of the characters, and the feeds interact, much like they would/do in teh comic. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to read those together to see what story/plot is imbedded.

Now for heavier reading – i’m re-reading WOT (last book due in Jan 2013) and having to keep notes (again) to figure out who is not dead anymore and who is betraying whom. Makes LOTR look like “see spot run” for complexity.

My method is ignoring everybody who isn’t Matt. I stopped caring about all the other plot lines around book 3.

The post-integration and Ahvienda pillar-terrangreal stuff has me really curious. Part of my re-reads is to look for stuff that was revealed in teh latest book, and try to spot any foreshadowing. The tower of Gengi stuff really caught me off guard – even w/ the ‘hints’ every other book. The only absolute I knew about that was that M would be back.

The Potter books had SO many spoilers when you look back at them. Even those i find new tidbits on every read.

In their defense, you can’t really test if someone is altering text without looking at text.

In Sweetheart’s defense, logic was never these guys’ strong suit to begin with.

Guys? Would Sweetheart — sensitive, kind, socially-conscious Sweetheart — really spout a truly obnoxious fatphobic remark?

    Because I’m really painfully disappointed.

Yes, sadly her beloved (but also evil) creator died that way. Although it was Canadian bacon.

I’ve never actually seen anyone die from excessive consumption of Celine Dion numbers before. It wouldn’t be a pretty sight I suppose…

That doesn’t explain why the adjective “fat” is here. Because it implies a whole bunch of things that are not apparently related to her creator’s demise.

I expect you’re right and this comment was probably meant to evoke the death of her creator, but it failed hard. There are some venues in which I expect fat jokes and can be prepared, but getting sideswiped in a place where I never thought to shield myself against them is disappointing and even a bit heartbreaking.

Second the applause for Sweetheart’s final expression.
What I want to know, though, is how Sweetheart got from I SEE YOU DOG to ‘someone is messing with Every! Thing! You! Read!’ There’s lots of other evidence, of course, but we ain’t seen her saw it. It’s not an unreasonable hypothesis on a trainful of mad scientists, but it’s not one that leaps to mind either.
Also, I’m only borderline obese, but I don’t see Sweetheart’s remark as so terribly lipophobic.

Yeah. I don’t think it’s very offensive at all, and I doubt I may survive very long in one of those. Hell, I don’t think I will survive once KFC finally opens for business down here.

I just spent a couple of hours giggling over the TV Tropes pages on Skin-Horse and Narbonic.

An awesome way to spend an afternoon. I have it bookmarked now so i can amuse myself on other topics. HOW have I been online for the last 20 years and never been to this site before??

    • Rex Vivat
      November 24, 2012, 3:03 pm | # | Reply

Careful! It starts as one page… then you want to know what those other tropes are about… then suddenly you’ve been indoors the whole Saturday and it’s 5.30 am in the morning and you have over 400 open tabs…
And the worst thing is, I’m not really exaggerating, that’s when I made the final switch from Firefox: I still have almost 500 tvtropes tabs in there. So beware.

I know – I also bookmarked discworld and have plans to look for other favorites as well. I am already contemplating (mildly) registering so i can edit. Probably not tho – I spend too much time online as it is.
