I’m not sure who considers them the same kind, one’s a fully living talking dog, the others are various undead humans.

You should already know the answer to that… several answers, even. One, Mr. Green. Two, Gavotte (and probably also Pavane). Three, their whole team, who have been dealing with “their kind” for many years.

You’re thinking too specifically. They’re all sapient non-humans. That is the common denominator.

Except Tip. Honestly, the word “vistor” leads me to suspect that by “your kind”, he means Earthlings.

Tip is technically at least a little werewolf since Big Bad Wolves (and indeed that’s part of why the reality blindness didn’t hit him), so maybe that’s enough to count?

The logic seems to be “are they in the Skin Horse records? Then they’re fair game”

Or there are two things going on here. One group gets the ‘I’m coming for you’ nightmare, the other group gets the parental figure visit in a dream.

They’re all getting a parental figure. It’s just that most of them find their “parental figure” rather disturbing – terrifying, even.

Sweetheart should be catching on here, however. Since the Captain said “I talked to you first” and “I’d have returned sooner”, Sweetheart should be thinking Pavane, especially since Gavotte already told her that Pavane was coming to “help”.

….Right. Because we already know (but I’d forgotten) that bees are “visitors.”

“I’m appearing in a form you are comfortable with.” Problem is, not everyone was comfortable with the form.

Flashbacks to “Contact” here. I can’t be only one whose reaction to the alien ambassador’s choice of body was “Dude, that’s ****ed up.”

    I believe in goats!
    Ghosts, not so much.

Weren’t there some goatly sophonts in this comic a while ago? When Unity was on her quest to become a notary?

Well, there was one goat. But I don’t know if you could quite call it a sophont. It had been injected with Unity’s black goo, and so it was essentially Unity’s “host” body for a short while. After the goat barfed out the Unity goo, there was still some residual essence d’Unityleft behind, but not enough to consider it “intelligent”.

        There were the spider goats

Of course there are ghosts. A certain Dave Prescott Davenport was one for a bit.

I always forget that the supernatural is real in this world.

I think he means there are no ghosts here. This phenomenon is something else. Though Remy might be able to help either way.

That, plus maybe also that Captain Bram (or whoever is appearing to Sweetheart in the guise of Captain Bram) is unaware of the existence of ghosts and does not believe in them. Given the variety of opinions on the subject that exist in our universe regardless of what the reality is here, we wouldn’t necessarily expect the Narboniverse to be different.

I suppose we can rule out Pavane, who’s more aware of the oft-troubled relationships between parents and children on Earth than this guy seems to be.

Agreed. Also, given Pavane’s past interaction with Sweetheart, I’d expect more familiarity (or at least a greeting).

But I’m at a loss as to who this could be…

UNLESS Pavane is actually meeting Sweetheart for the first time and their chat in VR wasn’t real? But that can’t – ah, “bee” – either!

So is this some other strange visitor from Lovetron? I think Sweetheart should call in Dr. Jones for a consultation!

      1. Gavotte and Pavane are not native earthlings, so any familiarity with their own troubled relationship does not necessarily translate to knowing about relationships between earthling parents and children.

      2. I know plenty of people who are in troubled relationships with their parents and/or children, but seem to be oblivious to the fact, even as they are talking about it.

    My guess is that there are two totally unrelated things going on;
    1. Pavane is sending a message to all non-human sentient’s and those sympathetic to their cause that she’s coming for them (to assist/get them off the planet).
    2. Unity’s hodgepodge abomination is randomly collecting parts from the zombies.
