That hasn’t been true for over ten years now. Remember Stuxnet? It was designed specifically to infect an isolated installation without outside access, and it succeeded. And that is old tech by now.
There is a lot of buzz about Internet of Things security these days. Water cookers that hack your WiFi have been spotted in the wild. Not to mention that there are no pace-makers these days that cannot be taken over easily by any skript kiddie. That’s right, spam is from the heart.
What you really want is to update early, update often, from a trusted source, with end-to-end encryption and pinned certificates.
You also have to hope that you never encounter anything which takes advantage of things your software’s designer doesn’t know about yet. Remember Stuxnet?
How can a robot retire? If they don’t break down within five to ten years, they are effectively immortal, and no retirement plan survives inflation for that long. This is madness!
Okay, Nick, trust you instincts and back away slowly. Or hover away, in your case.
If Aimee is in there, she is going to be spitting (virtual) fire that all of her plans and sacrifice were for naught, and you do not want to be caught in that backblast.

Silly Nick. Trust the computer. The computer is your friend.
The best thing is that Nick and Baron haven’t had to pay anything for it.
Wonder if Moriarty’s in there…
Ooh, a reference that’s not to the original series…
Hope Dinghy Duck had enough in his IRA for a comfortable retirement…
