…and for some reason I’m seeing a maniacal Popeye in the role of Herbert West, labcoat and all, using a can of spinach to re-animate the porcupine…which resembles the magic Jeep animal now.
Get a good job in the city,
Workin’ for Skin Horse for the better pay,
And they give the cost of infinite creepin’,
Hurryin’ up the way clogs might get cleaned.
Road kill keeps concernin’
Gift getters keep returnin’
Trollin’, trollin, trollin’ for the giver.
Keen they’re not on Secret Santas,
Dumped a lot of strain for uncertain means.
But they never got the needed help and pity,
Till they got the word from that give-and-gloat queen.
Road kill keeps concernin’
Gift getters keep returnin’
Trollin’, trollin, trollin’ for the giver.
If you become a gift giver,
Hope you gonna find someone who forgives
Don’t be in a hurry, they did not use money,
The people who were givers unhappy to give.
Road kill keeps concernin’
Gift getters keep returnin’
Trollin’, trollin, trollin’ for the giver.
Trollin’, trollin, trollin’ for the giver.
—That’s the one I was working on yesterday before being sidetracked…you can guess what it comes from…
That’s interesting — I assume it was playing with the Cypress and offshoots that gave Unity the ability to create plant-zombies. Her alter-self had pretty much taken over or merged with the plant-mind.
Nah, she’s always had this ability. It’s a core part of her design. U.N.I.T.Y. is the black goo. There’s fundamentally no difference between what it’s doing to the porcupine corpse here and what it does to the patchwork of human corpses we usually see it driving around.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen U.N.I.T.Y. take over a body other than the usual one, or control more than one at a time. Back in “Once and Future”, she occupied a whole series of cute critters in bandanas (including Dr. Lee), and controlled them all at once to mob Tigerlily.
I think the porcupine is just green because it’s ripe.
I love it! Just had this mental image of a Popeye/spinach deal going on in the shaft…
Attack with impunity, infected by Unity, it’s hopping and wailing, man.

Definitely bedtime.
Donuts. And coffee. MY motivations!
Sku.

That’s some of the best Sousa that I’ve heard in a long time!
(but that’s just a guess) 😉
Ah, but if you knew Sousa like I knew Sousa…
My first guess was the Rawhide theme. I have no idea what this is actually from.
Proud Mary, Creedence Clearwater Revival.

I was trying to imagine what the creature coming out of the vent would look like.
My expectations were exceeded
So… two cubicle workers and a dead hedgehog have now been irreversibly assimilated into Unity, right?
Now, now, that is a PORCUPINE, good sir.
The difference between porcupines and hedgehogs, is this porcupines are cute when they’re babies, then not so much. Hedgehogs are cute forever.
“that,” not “this”
Not necessarily. Unity can withdraw her nanites just as easily. If she gets to the workers in time their scars may be minimal.
If she cares that is.
Living critters’ immune systems will eventually reject the Unity nanites… assuming they’re still alive, that is.
And the heck of it, this is the second time this happened this week. (Why do you think it was in there in the first place?)
“My eyes?” Someone screaming that after a high speed porcupine collision? Dear God, that’s a gruesome mental image.
Don’t worry- on her next pass she scratched them in again…
Or perhaps, simply knocked over a bucket of Helen’s Best Eyes, the Best Ever Cloned!
I understood that reference!
Which? Helen’s Tank o’ Eyes, or the scratched one?
“Yes, we have no new comic, we have no new comic today?”
