I didn’t know crashing ALSA was illegal.

This is the Old West; they’re still using OSS.

ALSA is not a process… How can you crash something that isn’t really alive?

Besides, I doubt something that uses eight bits for emotions runs on Linux. I’d guess a variant of VMS.

They’re an evil megacorp, they must be running PulseAudio.

Evil megacorp? It’d be Itunes, then…

Lovelace seems to have turned 180 degrees whilst in the T-Rex’s mouth…
    Impressive.

Only needed to turn the gun. No need to aim in that situation, or even look at the target – just shove the muzzle up against it and pull the trigger.

Oh, you mean the fact her head is out? Dramatic convenience, she could have shot the critter from inside, but she had to be out to engage in dialogue. Or maybe written into the VR program so the victim can scream for help, not expected to be armed.

The t-rex picked her up head-first. Last strip, it was her legs sticking out. And yet this strip, she’s the other way around.

Of course, it’s only VR, but it’s still odd.

Maybe it’s like a bird with a fish. It can’t get her all down that way around, so it throws her up in the air and catches her again.

Crows are dinosaurs that wield tools. Don’t underestimate the crows.

Seriously. If I ever want to destroy the world, I’ll teach a flock of crows to use matches.

I never underestimate crows–they’re really hard to catch, nyao. On the other paw, they taste kinda like chicken. >^_^<

            T. rex does, however; a useful fact to recall if one ever gets hungry in Whimsy World® VR.

If Lovelace gets devoured, does she turn into a poo emoji or what? Her body isn’t actually made out of nutrition here.

Guess the lack of blood where Rex’s teeth are sunk into Lovelace in panel 1 is a whimsy VR thing? (I’m really wanting there to be cheesy ‘Old West/Hoedown’ music in the background while this is all playing out.)

That is how you can tell that it is intended for the kids demographic.

Hm. Code as law? Is this something intended to reduce the audio routines from being overloaded and crashing the entire program, the way Nick did with the infinite birds at his initial test?

      March 31, 2017, 11:07 pm | # | Reply

      Code is law.

What the code does not allow is not possible. That is what it means when it says that you tried to perform an illegal operation. (You never see that your computer has performed an illegal operation.)

So I guess it is more a kind of status 415 violation: Technically possible, but not technically legal.

The point being that horribly mutilating extinct dinosaurs to death is perfectly legal, just not in that particular way. (I suppose Wimsy Corp is afraid of being sued by Darner Bros for trademarked meme violation, what with their adopted daughter company associating excessive sound effects with their intellectual property Vampireman. Or something.)

Sort of like it being perfectly okay to burn down an orphanage, just not with fossile fuels. (Darn tree-hugging liberals forbidding everything!) Hence why I prefer nuclear fire: It’s CO2 neutral and self-sustaining. (And I would have gotten away for it, too, if not for the damned conservatives wanting to keep the world save for conventional warfare! Politics, always getting in the way of having some fun!)

Which, I suspect, is also a ploy to disarm them… why *not* shoot everything between them and the destination? Fear of derezzing a VR cartoon crow sheriff? Why’d they cooperate?

‘Cuz they’re Lawful Good? Alignment probably limits your options severely in a VR.
