Dear God, she’s the literal embodiment of a corporate entity.

Dude! She’s not an “entity,” she’s a legal person. Show some respect. Sociopaths have feelings too.

Actually, part of the definition of sociopath is the lack of empathy, and feelings towards others.

I’m going back to lurking now.

Let’s tone down those anthropocentric value judgments. She’s just doing what her kind has done instinctively ever since her ancestors began extracting shareholder value from marine animals with their circular rows of teeth over 100 million years ago.

But those hippies might be valuable insane gerbil habitat!

At least she didn’t order the hippOs shot. There are probably more hippos in the wetlands than hippies. You find hippies mostly in the snack aisle at 7-11.

There are hippos in the Western Hemisphere?

There are hippos running wild and free in Columbia. Pablo Escobar the druglord is blamed for releasing them from a private zoo, so they are considered feral. But it is worth pointing out that hippos are good swimmers (duh!), and are the closest four-legged relative of such ocean-going animals as Shamu and Flipper. So they could have swam there by themselves, following some big-mouthed Moses of their own, no doubt.

Newsweek has reported that Escobar’s hippos are going to be captured and “sterealised”. Assuming that is a typo, they must have meant “stereolized” so perhaps Whimsy has already dealt with them.

So the government is going to shoot the hippos (assuming that you wouldn’t go that close to a fully alert animal)? Truth is sillier than fiction, I suppose.

Hippos don’t actually swim. Who knew?

So does the Narboniverse have it’s own version of Banksy running around making art-as-commentary that is highly critical of the Narboniverse version of Disney?

Panel 3 reminds me of how subdivisions and shopping centers are usually named after the natural features that were destroyed in order to create them.

If they’re all animatronic, why does the rabbit have a coffee?

    • D. Walker
      May 11, 2017, 6:23 am | # | Reply

Maybe it merely has a coffee cup with nothing in it, as a sort of character prop meant to promote a productive business attitude in other Whimsy employees by visually suggesting energy, activity, and alertness, while also reinforcing the ever present imperatives to purchase and to consume.

You might as well ask, if they’re all animatronic, why Mary smokes.

Come to think of it, why does Mary smoke?

Since I’ve always strongly identified with the little critter (apart from the sexuality and frequent smugness), I refuse to answer that question lest I incriminate myself. I’ll just say that Artie is perfectly sane by his standards, which is not something you could say about Helen or Tigerlily, who are crazy and proud of it.

Likewise, Collodi’s Daughter is perfectly sane by the standards of corporations. Not maximising quarterly profits at the expense of all else would be madness.

“Sane” and “good” are not synonymous in this.

Or…she knows full well there are AIs running around in the sim and she wants Baron M to admit it so they can all do something about it.
