Monster of the Week Notes
Shaenon: The Skin Horse 9&10 Kickstarter has passed its second stretch goal! That means I’ll be drawing another season of my X-Files recap comic Monster of the Week. As you can see, I’ve already started watching X-Files and taking notes.
There are just a few days left on the Kickstarter. Thank you so much to everyone for making the next volumes of Skin Horse happen, and please keep spreading the word!
Channing: My deepest thanks to all of you guys for pledging enough to convince Shaenon to do this, if for no other reason than I get to enjoy it too.
Rough notes for upcoming projects usually tend to the incoherent…
Since I never watched the X-Files, I value these as a way to get the gist of the series. I never watched Bab-5 either (except for the pilot), so hint hint hint.
If I did another of these it’d be either Babylon 5 or Twin Peaks.
Brisco County?
Oooo, I like that idea!
Another vote for Brisco County, Jr.
I mean, I’d enjoy if she did Brisco County, but the show was funny/absurd enough to begin with, that I’m not sure Shaenon could make it funnier/weirder.
The Lurkers would love your take on B5.
Oh. Oooh. Hmmm. My heart says Twin Peaks but either would be great!
I’d say Twin Peaks too.
I would back a Kickstarter for a Bab 5 Monster of the Week (though I’m not sure what to call it).
West Wing IN SPAAAACEEEEE!!!!!! maybe?
If anyone’s new to Skin Horse, I put together an index for it at http://kontext-away.com/MotW.html .
Did you mean to say “if anyone’s new to Monster of the Week”?
Odd fact I was noticing the other day:
I haven’t actually seen all of the X-Files. Probably about three quarters of the first three seasons or so, the odd episode in later ones. Was a semi-fan, found it, honestly, a bit much to take, a lot of the time, though. You really can get too much moody synth, pouting David Duchovny, BC rain forests, and a hacked together continuity arc mostly built for a suspended, continual atmosphere of paranoia, not so much coherence, nor ever resolving anything whatsoever…
… but I *have* read all of Monster of the Week, over time. So kinda filled in that section of pop culture literacy that way, I figure…
(… also, honestly, with due respect to that television thing, I think MOTW is generally considerably better entertainment.)
