Seems I recall a fictional city in which everyone had to wear glasses… And about the watch, who do we know who is snappy and good with springs? That watch *may* have unexpected, but funky, functions… Odd that he clearly knows Sweetheart is a fake running a drone, but still treating her as if she were a Mad…
Ooh, and I just noticed that when Gavotte was talking to the presumed Mr. Green on the phone, at the end of “I Can Fly”, she calls him a “big humbug.” I think that connection is drawn quite clearly enough.
I also notice that he’s not visibly wearing a watch. That suggests she’s still in VR and that he slipped up. Or she’s out of VR but he’s sneakily trying to make her think she’s still in VR. Or it’s a double-reverse-psych-out.
Also relevant to the current arc (from Railway Children):
V: “Reporting from Boston, Mr. Green.”
V: “I just think the next time you want to tag along, you should do so in the flesh.” Source 1 | Source 2
S: “Do you think GODOT could’ve survived?”
T: “He was a powerful AI who could manipulate minds.” Source
Hmm, glasses and madness together reminds me of a certain other strip… are we in for another Dramatic Reveal? Does Sweetheart not want to go among mad people? Is there a reason she would have come here? Are the institute’s methods based off research done by a certain Tinasky?
Different glasses, methinks. In the Wizard of Oz, it is revealed that the Emerald City is no more green than any other city. People just think it’s green because it is required by law that you wear green-tinted glasses at all times. I feel like that fits more than a Narbonic reference would here.
AND now you’ve got me thinking of the Star Trek episode where the Romulans brainwash Geordi using the implants for his visor. It was a horrible episode that gave me an incredible case of the creeps when I was 10.
Considering that Google are both unapologetically evil and wall-scribblingly insane, it would really be more surprising if they weren’t staffed entirely by Mads
Dr. Ao / Mr. Green is trying to increase the madness of madboyz and -girls. With a plan like that, and the likely fallout, he’s got to be getting too close to his subjects. The invisible watch is just the most obvious sign.

Yep. I love the Wizard of Oz reference.
And green is the Wizard’s color, of course.

No, the watch is there, just gray and hard to see.
He also used the actual quote when he took Nick *out* of VR.
A bit of digging later… Ta da!
Later on, Extreme Measures which we also saw recently…

Who says she can’t become one? Well, an Upset, anyway.
The thing with the glasses is so gd dystopian, I love it.

Is that how all designer clothes are made?…….I would be okay with this.
By abusing the junior designers? From what I’ve heard, yes.
Do the mad geniuses come with cable connections already in their bodies? Well, maybe some…

Does anyone know why I can’t access the “Everyday Heroes” page today?
No, but try http://eheroes.smackjeeves.com/
Thank you, that’s awesome!
I wonder if software companies are doing this to their programmers, considering the convoluted ways some activities are achieved.
