Shaenon: Continuing the email from last Sunday…

Skin Horse has a staff of five:

Tip is a transvestite psychologist and the department’s human liaison. He has a doctorate in research psychology which technically qualifies him to work with nonhuman intelligences, but his actual job is far from prestigious; he’s basically a secretary and go-fer, dispatched to do things the other members of the staff can’t do, or can’t do without attracting a lot of attention. He is perfectly at peace with his preference for women’s clothing and generally well-adjusted, at least in his own estimation.

Unity is one of the department’s two field operatives. She is a Frankenstein monster created from a patchwork of body parts. She’s very strong and a little trigger-happy. Sort of the Mell of the group. Inasmuch as her face is black on one side and white on the other, with a column of thick black stitches down the middle, she cannot easily pass for human except under very bad lighting.

Sweetheart is Unity’s partner, a talking dog. A big furry dog, like a Samoyed. She’s the sensible, down-to-earth member of the duo. I have the idea in the back of my head that Sweetheart was created by a kindly Canadian mad scientist in an attempt to conquer America with a race of super-dogs.
